And now, to the seniors who have dedicated so much passion and energy to produce Grant Magazine, I, Chris Hawking (Grant Magazine’s humble advisor-in-training) do bequeath the following hopes, wishes and sincere admirations. May you continue to brighten this world with your presence and powerfully impact the lives of everyone you come in contact with.
Georgia Greenblum: Master juggler, wearer of many hats and queen of getting all things done. Watching you so gracefully balance your various responsibilities has been beyond inspiring. Your work ethic, dedication to quality, and impeccable people skills have helped shepherd this publication into a new era. And where would we be without your mind for money? I wish you all the best, and I’m happy for all the people you will come in contact with. They have no idea what’s coming.
Sophia Holland: The quiet one in the corner. The sensitive watcher who always knows the score. The critical eye who understands exactly how to cut through the nonsense. You are a strong writer who longs to tell people’s stories as truthfully as possible and always stands up for the integrity of your art. I hope you keep writing and sniffing out stories. The world is a better place with your voice in it.
Momoko Baker:  You are the visual sparkle and pop behind Grant Magazine, and you make every issue jump off the page. Your photographic eye is unmatched, and your quiet leadership will take this magazine far into the future. Honestly, I’m not sure what we will do without you next year. On top of all that, your goofy sense of humor brightened the newsroom every other day and always made it a good place to be. Finally, Momo, you may be one of the sweetest, kindest people I know. Oh! And your taste in music is impeccable. Keep spinning records.
Mackie Mallison: Filmmaker extraordinaire, inspirational glue and the chief chief-editor. You were the first Grant Magazine staffer I ever met, and I would not have made it through this year without you. I cannot say how much your willingness to partner with me has meant. Your care for and dedication to the mission and tradition of the magazine has been absolutely critical to its survival. And your ability to nurture talent and foster promise is nothing short of amazing. We will all miss your creative energy, your bashful smile and your sense of humor. The world is yours to frame; what will you shoot first?
