Grant Magazine: Hard at Work, in Need of Support

Grant Magazine recently learned that we won a Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) for the first time since before the pandemic. This is exciting news because only eleven publications from across the country won a Crown Award for our category, High School General Magazine. Crown Awards are given by the CSPA to a student print or digital medium for overall excellence as determined by CSPA’s journalism criteria.

Since we won this prestigious award, we are planning to attend the Spring Convention at Columbia University in New York City in March. The convention will offer opportunities for our students to further enhance their journalism skills, ensuring an even stronger magazine in the future. Having this opportunity to collect their award while being recognized for their hard work, is not only rewarding, but is motivating to keep their high standards in the future.

We will be departing for our trip on March 12 and return on March 16, 2024. This award reflects the work that students completed during the 2022-23 school year, so this trip is limited to the twelve returning students that worked on the magazine last year. We will continue to strive for excellence as a publication with the expectation of receiving this award annually, resulting in opportunities for Grant Magazine staffers going on this trip in future years.

We have a goal of raising $20,000 for this trip and we have a limited amount of time to raise the funds for this academic and worldly opportunity for our Grant students.

Thank you for your generous donation that will allow this trip to become a reality for these hard-working students. We are actively seeking out as many fundraising opportunities as possible to help fund this fast-approaching trip.
